Lana Ivanović, a Master’s student at the Faculty of Information Technology, University “Mediterranean” Podgorica, successfully presented her first scientific paper at the 22nd IFIP International Conference on Artificial Intelligence Applications and Innovations (AIAI 2026), one of the leading international conferences dedicated to the applications and innovations of artificial intelligence. The conference was held at the Mediterranean Agronomic Institute of Chania (MAICh) on the island of Crete, Greece.
The paper, entitled “Comparative Analysis of Machine Learning Algorithms for HVAC Control State Prediction,” was co-authored with Prof. Tijana Marković, prof Amar Kapić and mr Ivan Knezevic. The research forms part of the student’s Master’s thesis and is also the result of research activities carried out at the Faculty of Information Technology.
The study was conducted within the OASIS – Optimised Airflow Systems with Intelligent Solutions project, co-funded by the Innovation Fund of Montenegro. The project focuses on the development of intelligent solutions for HVAC system optimization through the application of machine learning, artificial intelligence, and data analytics.
The paper has been published in the Springer IFIP AICT (Artificial Intelligence and Communication Technologies) conference proceedings, representing an important international recognition of the quality and scientific contribution of the research.
Lana Ivanović’s participation in AIAI 2026 is an excellent example of how Master’s studies at the Faculty of Information Technology integrate education, research, and innovation. By actively engaging students in research projects and supporting their participation in international scientific conferences, the Faculty fosters the development of research competencies, encourages the application of academic knowledge to real-world challenges, and contributes to the education of the next generation of researchers.
