At the Faculty of Information Technology of the University “Mediterranean” Podgorica (FIT), an Alumni Day – “Meeting of Generations” was held, an event that brought together former and current students, as well as professors, with the aim of strengthening the community, exchanging experiences, and encouraging future cooperation.
The program began with participant registration and the distribution of symbolic gifts, followed by welcome speeches from representatives of the Faculty and the University. The attendees were addressed by Rector Prof. Dr. Savo Marković, Dean Prof. Dr. Maja Delibašić, and Vice Dean Doc. Dr. Žana Knežević, who emphasized the importance of connecting the alumni community with the Faculty and its role in supporting and developing new generations of students.
During the event, the work of the Student Association of the Faculty of Information Technology of the University Mediterranean – USFITUM was presented. Attendees had the opportunity to learn about the association’s past activities and events, with Alumni Day highlighted as its most recent initiative.
Continuing the program, FIT alumna and professor Prof. Dr. Tijana Marković, who teaches the newly accredited course Distributed Software Development, introduced the audience to the way the course is conducted. Prof. Marković presented the teaching concept, stressing that the course is carried out in cooperation with international partners, and provided an introduction to the student presentations that followed.
Students then presented their work to the alumni. They showcased the results of their team projects, sharing their ideas, practical skills, and readiness for the modern IT environment.
After the presentations, the informal part of the program followed with refreshments and networking, during which participants exchanged experiences, renewed contacts, and created new professional connections in a relaxed atmosphere. This was an excellent opportunity for current students to connect with former students, now prominent members of the Montenegrin ICT community.
In the final part of the event, FIT alumni – Tijana Vujošević, Doc. Dr. Filip Marković, and Petar Backović – delivered inspiring lectures to the students, speaking about their successful projects, professional achievements, and career paths that began at the Faculty of Information Technology. Special attention was given to the career of Doc. Dr. Filip Marković, who advanced to the point of collaborating with NASA.
Alumni Day once again demonstrated the importance of the connection between the Faculty and its former students, as well as the continuous exchange of knowledge, experience, and support that contributes to the development of future IT professionals.
