From July 13 to 19, 2025, the Summer Academy 2025 was held at the University for Business and Technology (UBT) in Pristina, organized within the framework of the Erasmus+ IoT-ECO project (https://iot-eco.eu/). This seven-day event brought together a large number of students, professors, and partners from Europe and the Western Balkans, creating an inspiring platform for innovation, collaboration, and green transformation.
The Faculty of Information Technology (FIT) of the University “Mediterranean” Podgorica was represented by five students and three professors, who, through lectures, workshops, discussions, and study visits, had the opportunity to enhance their knowledge in the fields of the Internet of Things (IoT), digital innovation, and smart sustainable systems.
A special highlight was the lecture delivered by Asst. Prof. Dr. Velimir Strugar on the topic “PV Plants, Smart Inverters, and Electric Vehicles as IoT Cyber-Physical Entities in Modern Power Systems and Smart Grids”, which drew significant attention from participants and initiated a discussion on the role of IoT technologies in modern power networks and the integration of renewable energy sources.
Among the notable events of the Summer Academy was the Round Table on Future Cooperation, held on July 17 at the UBT Dukagjini Center, aimed at creating joint initiatives in the field of smart and sustainable systems. The program also included startup presentations, Blockchain Day, as well as a visit to the University of Pristina, where discussions with partners focused on quality assurance and future project activities.
The large number of students who actively participated in discussions and lectures further enriched the program and confirmed the importance of the IoT-ECO project in connecting academia, industry, and society.
Participating in this academy once again FIT demonstrates its commitment to developing professional competencies and fostering international cooperation in the fields of the Internet of Things, smart grids, and sustainable technologies.
